Countdown to Christmas 1

Today is the first of December, which marks the first day of advent. From this point on the world will turn into a crazy tinsel buying, carol singing place, where wearing hideously patterned knitted jumpers and playing annoyingly catchy old school songs on loop becomes completely acceptable. It truly is the most wonderful time of the year, and to help count down the next 24 days 'til Christmas, I'll be posting a new Christmas character everyday, as a digital advent calendar.

Todays first advent treat is from designer/illustrator Chris Wharton. Who sells this slightly ominous card, along with other pieces of his work through the marvellous website Ohh Deer. I chose this illustration as the first advent post, for all those of you who are feeling slightly reluctant to get into the Christmas spirit just yet, as a gentle warm up. The illustration though still beautiful certainly harbours a more macabre feel than your typical greetings card. But captures a certain spirit of the season fabulously.
